Emergency Operations Center

There are two Riverside County Emergency Operations Centers (EOC) situated in Riverside and Indio. The EOCs are maintained in a constant state of readiness to activate quickly once the need arises to share information, coordinate resources and create situational awareness among response agencies and local jursidictions.

The West County EOC in Riverside has historic roots, as it was originally built as Cold War-era bomb shleter, complete with reinforced steel and containment doors. The newer East County EOC in Indio was recently built with a state of the art audio visual wall.

When an EOC is activated, the positions most appropriate to the needs of the incident are called to respond. Most of the EOC responders are County of Riverside employees, all of whom are trained, sworn disaster service workers, however, other responders are from stakeholder agencies such as utility companies. EOC responderes have a designated role in supporting the response or recovery operations of an incident.
